Panaji: Taking cognizance of media report, the Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has issued notices to Chief Secretary and Principal Chief Engineer Public Work Department with regards to dangerous condition of old Zuari bridge.
A local Marathi newspaper had reported about the poor condition of old Zuari bridge.
“The media report cannot be lightly brushed aside. It is pertinent to note that there is heavy vehicular traffic on the bridge and in the event any untoward incident takes place, it may prove disastrous and fatal to the public members using the bridge. This matter therefore must be viewed seriously,” GHRC secretary said in its order.
The authorities are asked to submit detail report in the matter by December 14.
