The Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Saturday alleged that its Youth Vice-President Ruonal Kerkar was attacked by four unidentified persons in Shiroda late Friday night.
According to police sources, Kerkar was assaulted and his car was damaged during the incident. The motive behind the attack is yet to be established.
Kerkar has filed a complaint with the police, who have launched an investigation to identify and arrest the assailants.
Strongly condemning the incident, GFP leaders said the assault was aimed at intimidating the party’s youth wing and demanded strict action against those responsible.
Police officials said all possible angles are being examined and assured that security measures would be taken to prevent any further escalation.
