Panaji: Goa Forward Party on Sunday wrote to Election Commission of India (ECI) urging him to prioratise vaccination for the poll bound Goa.
Goa is due to face elections in March 2022 as the five year long tenure of the current legislative assembly ends.
GFP President Vijai Sardesai on Sunday appealed the ECI to consider expanding its scope of prioritisation of vaccines to include the general public/eligible voters of the states across India gearing up for an upcoming election in 2022.
“It is our firm belief and hope that a prioratised vaccne drive and allocation of doses for poll-bound states would massively help reduce the risk of spreading the virus along with all other control protocols deemed fit by health experts and the ECI,” Sardesai wrote.
In the letter, Sardesai has said that “in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation, the country and Goa is reeling through the second wave which would cause severe impact on the capacities of the ECI to hold the state assembly elections scheduled next year.”
Sardesai told the ECI that over the previous five electoral polls conducted, the ocuntry witnessed how political rallies, and gatherings that failed to adhere to the prescribed COVID-19 control norms allegedly resulted and rapidly increased the spread of the virus.

MGP & GFP are two sides of the same coin. They both criticize Congress & BJP before election and after election they both join them.
