Margao: Goa Forward Party President and Fatorda MLA, Vijai Sardesai, has submitted a formal letter to the Chief Secretary of Goa, demanding the immediate scrapping of the ongoing recruitment process for Lower Division Clerk (LDC) posts at the South Goa Collectorate. Sardesai raised serious allegations of a “Cash For Jobs” scam, wherein bribes were allegedly solicited from candidates in exchange for securing government jobs.

In the letter, Sardesai detailed that the recruitment process, which began with an exam in October 2023 followed by a skill test in February 2024, has been tainted by corruption. He highlighted that despite the prolonged seven-month delay in declaring the results, it has now emerged that money was allegedly collected from candidates during this period. These revelations suggest that jobs, which should have been granted to deserving individuals, were sold off, depriving qualified candidates, many of whom are from economically weaker sections.

Sardesai also brought attention to complaints from candidates who were approached by a woman demanding money in exchange for securing their positions. Those who refused to pay were reportedly failed in the recruitment process. Despite raising this issue with the Revenue Minister and the Chief Minister, Sardesai’s attempts to seek immediate action went unanswered. Further investigations have indicated the involvement of two officials from the Bicholim Polytechnic, who are alleged to have manipulated the exam results.

Questioning the delay in announcing the results and the integrity of the entire recruitment process, Sardesai has called for an impartial investigation into the scam. He emphasized the need to hold those involved accountable and to ensure that jobs are awarded based on merit, not through illicit payments. The Fatorda MLA stressed the importance of taking swift and decisive action to restore public faith in government recruitment processes and protect the rights of deserving candidates.
