Panaji, January 10, 2025: The Directorate of Tribal Welfare appeals to Scheduled Tribe Students to take advantage of the Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana Scheme, which aims to provide financial assistance to Scheduled Tribe Students.

The scheme aims to provide additional financial assistance to Scheduled Tribe Students to meet the expenses for food and travel. The scheme also aims to provide an additional disability allowance to cover the expenses of students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes community with disabilities.

Students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes community in the state of Goa, with a family income not exceeding Rs. 5,00,000/- per annum and studying post-matriculation courses in recognized institutions, are eligible to avail themselves of benefits under the scheme. The student must be a regular and full-time student of an institution.

The additional maintenance allowance awarded under the scheme has now been enhanced from Rs. 750/- p.m. to Rs. 900/- p.m. for a day scholar. The allowance has been enhanced from Rs. 1,500/- p.m. to Rs. 1,800/- p.m. for a hosteller, and the additional disability allowance of Rs. 750/- p.m. has been enhanced to Rs. 900/- p.m. The enhanced benefits will be awarded to all eligible students who have applied for the scheme from the current academic year, i.e., 2024-2025. The scholarship is awarded for 10 months in an academic year.
