Panaji: Minutes after Congress MLA Luizinho Faleiro tendered his resignation, former Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party MLA Lavu Mamlatdar stated that he would be joining the Trinamool Congress Party.
“I have been in discussion with the TMC leaders since first week of September. I will be formally joining TMC tomorrow (Tuesday) by visiting Kolkata,” the former MLA told reporters.
Mamlatdar was MGP MLA from 2012 till 2017 representing Ponda Assembly constituency.
“I congratulate Faleiro for taking right decision at right time. Congress has been facing disastrous situations since 2017,” he said.
Mamlatdar, who is a former police officer, said that he would be interested in contesting upcoming Goa legislative Assembly election on TMC ticket from Madkaim constituency.
The constituency is a fiefdom of MGP supremo Sudin Dhavalikar, who currently represents it in the Assembly.
Mamlatdar said that he would not be contesting on TMC ticket from his traditional Ponda Assembly segment.
