Vasco: Air Asia’s flight had to abort its take off on Sunday after air traffic controller noticed a dog on the runway.
Goa airport director Gagan Malik said that the flight operation of Air Asia had to abort after the ATC noticed a dog on the runway.
This is second such incident in recent times with similar incident reported during last month.
“Air Asia flight 778 from Goa to Delhi had to abort take-off after Air Traffic Control officials spotted stray dogs on the runway,” a naval spokesman said.
He said that the pilot was immediately informed, after which the take-off was aborted.
Indian Navy spokesman took on to Twitter to reveal about the incident.
“At about 0825h today when #AirAsia flight 778 was rolling for take off at @aaigoaairport alert ATC spotted a dog entering runway & immediately informed pilot who aborted take off. The flight departed 0915h after additional technical checks. @SpokespersonMoD @DefenceMinIndia,” the spokesman tweeted.
“INSHansa has proactively taken steps to relocate dogs from vicinity of runway. Under MOU of #IndianNavy with Department of Animal Husbandry, nearly 60 dogs have been relocated since mid August @DDNewsLive @PIB_Panaji @PIB_India @airnewsalerts,” he said in another tweet.
