Panaji: Goa police have launched an investigation after they recovered body of a five-year-old girl near a construction site at Vasco town in South Goa on Friday morning.
Superintendent of Police (South) Sunita Sawant told reporters that the girl was found unconscious near a construction site during early morning of Friday.
She was taken to Chicalim health centre where she was declared dead. Sawant said that the body has been sent for postmortem.
“We will be able to ascertain the cause of death only after we receive the postmortem report,” she said.
Sawant said that Vasco police have rounded up several labourers who are working near the site and they are being questioned.
