Panaji: Even as media reports quoted at least five teachers being infected with COVID19 virus, State government is still dragging its feet over the demand of teachers’ associations to allow them “work from home.”

Local vernacular newspapers on Friday carried news about at least five teachers being infected with the virus.

Various associations of teachers spanning across high schools to higher secondary schools have petitioned Director of Education with the demand to allow them to work from home.

Director of Education Santosh Amonkar said that the file is sent to the state government for their decision on this issue.

“The file is with the state government,” Amonkar said on Friday.

The teachers are wary that they are being pushed to face this pandemic situation, when they could, as well be working from home.

Amonkar during his interaction on Prime Media’s Prime Encounter show, had said that the state government will soon take the decision on the matter.
