Panaji: Goa Police on Saturday arrested a 36-year-old fitness trainer for murdering 35-year-old lady professor and dumping her body on the highway at the outskirts of Panaji.
A senior police official said that Old Goa Police arrested Gaurav Bidre, a fitness trainer for murdering Gauri Achari, who was a professor at a local Government college.
The body of Gauri was found along the roadside on Saturday, hours after her family members had filed a complaint of she going missing.
“During the investigation, police zeroed in on the accused, who was in the relationship with the victim. Of late, their relationship had broken and the victim had stopped responding to the calls of the accused,” police said.
As per the confession of the accused, he was angry over the non responsive behaviour of the victim and that was the reason why he met her and strangulated her to death in a car.
The accused later dumped the body alongside the Highway linking Panaji to Old Goa.
The accused has been arrested for murdering and destruction of evidence.
