Panaji: It was a tough time for the Electricity Department staff and its officials since last Sunday to restore back the power supply after cyclone created devastation in the state.

The department has managed to restore supplies in the 80 per cent parts while work on covering rest 20 per cent is going on at war-footing.

The department staff is working round the clock to bring back the normalcy by restoring the supply.
The damage caused by cyclone is huge. More than 700-800 Low Tension Poles are broken while more than hundred High Tension eleven kv poles are damaged in the cyclone.

More than 30 Distribution Transformer Centers have been destroyed while fault has developed in 200 DTCs, he said.
The department is also busy in erecting back four to five 33kv towers which are fallen due to the cyclone.

Several electric conductors have snapped off while kilometers of electricity cable have been damaged.
