Panaji: The electricity department has made its prior permission mandatory to the consumers willing to install and commission domestic generator in their premise, shops or hotel.
It has also directed those who have installed the facility without permission, to regularize it by obtaining for approval within three months.
In a press statement issued, the department has said that permission from Chief Electrical Engineer is mandatory to all consumers before installing Generator at homes/firms/shop/hotels, factories etc., and approval from Electrical inspector, Office of the State Electrical Inspectorate, Patto, Panaji, before energizing/commissioning of the Domestic Generator (DG) Set at their premises/ firms/shop/hotels, factories etc.
The Department has observed that the Generator sets are installed by the Domestic, Commercial consumers as well as Industrial consumers without taking prior approval/permission from the competent authority which is illegal.
Hence the Department has requested everyone to regularize those installation where the equipments have been already installed without obtaining permission/approval of the competent authority within next three months.
