Borim: The NSS Cell of Swami Vivekanand Vidyaprasarak College of Commerce, Bori, in collaboration with Bori Panchayat, Bori Biodiversity Management Committee, NGOs, and schools from Ponda, organized a significant tree plantation event on the 6th of July, 2024. The event, themed “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” took place in the Bori forest area, with an impressive turnout of participants dedicated to environmental conservation.
The gathering was addressed by the college principal Dr. Shekhar Sawant , who emphasized the importance of tree planting and environmental preservation. The principal’s speech underscored the vital role trees play in combating climate change, providing oxygen, and supporting biodiversity.
Following the principal’s address, the tree plantation drive commenced with enthusiasm and dedication. A total of 345 trees were planted by the participants, which included students, faculty members, representatives from NGOs, and local community members. Each tree planted symbolized a tribute to motherhood and the nurturing essence of nature, aligning with the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.”
The event not only aimed to enhance the green cover of the Bori forest area but also to raise awareness about the importance of tree plantation and environmental sustainability. The collaboration with various local bodies and schools ensured widespread participation and community engagement, making the event a resounding success.
Participants expressed their commitment to nurturing the newly planted trees and contributing to the conservation of the forest area. The event concluded with a sense of accomplishment and a shared resolve to continue efforts towards environmental conservation.
