Environmentalist Dr. Vandana Shiva, organized by Goa Biodiversity Board in the city today. He earlier inaugurated Food Festival organised by Goa Biodiversity Board in the campus area of Maquiinez Palace In the city.
The Chief Minister said that Government knows that the Goa is surrounded with western ghat and sea on the otherside. There is importance of environment. and efforts are being made by the Government to conserve through Goa Biodiversity Board 33% of forest areas, CRZ areas, rich biodiversity and environment at large. Some village areas which are notified as ecosensetive zones will also be conserved he said.
The Launching of natural farming on 20th of this month will help Goa to become the first state in the country in this area..After commencing Agricutural College at Ela Farm Old Goa research and innovation pertaining to agriculture would be carried out to boost agriculture in the State. He said the Goa Biodiversity Board is striving to fulfil its objective with its full strength and is worthy of appreciation. He also appreciated the manufacture of nutmeg cola marketed by Goa Biodiversity Board

Shri Nilesh Cabral said no doubt it is the duty of the Govermmet to preserve the environment. The launching of seed bank is a decisive step of the Government towards taking care of Goas biodiversity. He appreciated Dr Vandana Shiva for her contribution towards conservation of biodiversity in the country. and particularly in Goa. The Goa Biodiversity Board and farmers will associate with Dr. Vandana Shiva and will work together for the causevof biodiversity of Goa.

Dr. Vandana Shiva said understanding biodiversity means understanding civilization. Seeds are needed to be preserved with its original form because man
is not creator of seeds and therefore cannot be petanted.
Variety of seeds, Richness of culture means to work with biodiversity of land, Conserving biodiversity of Goa will help people to be healthy. Biodiversity of insects is necessary to control insect menace to yield. Goa can have authenticity of food water, fish other foods because of its rich and diversed environment.

Bija Mitra( Seed friends ) Cards were issued at the hands of Chief Minister to three farmers .these included Smt Nishita Gawade, Cumbharjua,Tiswadi, Smt Suvidha Gaonkar, Gaodongari Canacona, Shri Kushta Velip Shristhal Canacona. These will have seeds deposited with and people who required seeds can avail from them.
Herbal cola made up of nutmeg apple marketed by GBB launched at the hands of the Chief Minister.
