Panaji: In what can boost the disqualification petition against ten MLAs who had switched over from Congress to BJP, Election Commission of India has told Goa Congress Chief Girish Chodankar that “they have no information about merger of CLP into BJP.”
ECI, in a reply to the application moved under Right to Information (RTI), has given the following information.
Chodankar had asked “whether any application seeking merger of Indian National Congress Legislature Party in Goa Legislative Assembly with Bharatiya Janata Party has been received by the office of the Election Commission of India. If yes, Kindly provide the copy.”
ECI has replied “There is no information/communication in this regard to the commission.”
Same reply is given to the question by Chodankar wherein he had asked “whether Election Commission of India has approved/sanctioned any merger of Indian National Congress Legislature party in Goa Legislative Assembly with Bharatiya Janata Party.”
