Quepem: Dy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar inaugurated the construction work of retaining wall near Our Lady of Imaculate Conception, school in Avedem. The concrete retaining wall will be constructed at a cost of 15.10 Lakh Rupees.
Rev Father of Imaculate Conception Fr. Agnelo blessed the starting of this work being undertaken under PWD.
Zilha Panchayat Member from Avedem Sidharth Desai, Sarpanch Alleluia Alphonso, Dy Sarpanch Gauresh Gaunkar, Panch member Sangeeta Prabhudesai, Panch Vital Olivera, Gajanan Prabhudesai, Pascalin fernandes, Oscar Moraes, Nitin Prabhudesai, PTA Chairman Rusario, PWD JE Pravin Naik, AE Sharad Vernekar were present during the inauguration.
Dy CM Kavlekar while speaking on the occasion said that, “this work involved some complications but, I personally looked in to it and saw to that it starts”. He also expressed satisfaction to the fact that whatever that was promised was being fulfilled. Speaking on the COVID-19 awareness in Quepem, he also appealed to the people to get tested, get vaccinated and also asked to maintain COVID appropriate behaviour. Speaking regarding the facilities offered at COVID step up hospital at Quepem he said, oxygen and all required facilities are there to make every Quepemkar who is admitted there feel at home. He also said that those people who don’t have separate isolation room at home may use the facility too with Doctors consultation. Amongst the other facilities provided for COVID management in Quepem he said, there is round the clock fleet of 5 vehicles to pick and drop patients from home to hospitals or back. Also, he talked about one of its kind initiative in Goa called, ‘Oxygen On Wheels’ where a van fitted with Oxygen concentrators and generators is ready for service on call 24 hours. The van is a unique initiative as when a patient is in need of oxygen, the generators can power the units in case of power failure which was a regular feature in Quepem taluka after the devastation caused by Cyclone Taukte.
