Margao: Mr. Nilesh Cabral, Hon’ble Minister for Law and Judiciary, will be releasing the moot court problems for the State Level ‘Dr. Carmo D’ Souza Memorial Moot Court Competition’, on 19th September, 2022, at 11.30 am, in the Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law campus at Margao, Goa. The competition is hosted by the G. R. Kare College of Law Alumni Association.
Mr. Sanjit Dessai, President of the Association, informed that the purpose of the competition is to create awareness about local laws and socio-political issues and a team of legal experts have drafted the problem with a purpose to make the young students to do research on such legislation.
He further informed that such a competition is conducted for the first time in the State of Goa and the law students from the State would get an opportunity to interact with legal luminaries who would be associated with this event. He further informed that the competition is held under the guidance and Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Marian Pinheiro, Former Dean, Faculty of Law, Goa University.
Professor Dr. Carmo D’ Souza, was a renowned lecturer in the subject of law. He taught in both G. R. Kare College of Law, Margao, and V. M. Salgaocar Law College, Miramar. He was a dedicated teacher and author of several books. He took great pleasure in guiding the students, especially in research. He passed away on 08th June 2022. The moot court competition is held in his memory.
The moot court problems will be released at the hands of Mr. Nilesh Cabral, Hon’ble Minister for Law and Judiciary, in the presence of the Principals and Senior Faculty of both the law colleges.
