Panaji: Dr Ambedkar Kriti Samiti Goa on Friday submitted a memorandum to State Election Commission (SEC) pointing out to the lacunes in the notification declaring panchayat election in the state.

Accompanied by legal advisor Rohan Desai, the members of Dr Ambedkar Kriti Samiti Goa submitted the memorandum on Friday.

“The undersigned without prejudice to their rights and contentions available under that and in exercise of their rights raise the following objectives to the above notification being aggrieved to the policy of reservation.

They have claimed that the notification does not specify reservation for women representation of the community in the wards as it was done in the 2017 elections.

“There is no reservation for the post SC community Sarpanch as per the mandate under Article 245-D of the Constitution of India.”

“The village population ratio has not been considered while deciding the reservation criteria as per the mandate of law in the entire state of Goa.”

They have also said that the reservation for the community in South Goa is meager compared to the North Goa.
