Panaji : On the occasion of World Environment Day celebrated on June 5, the government of Goa with the help of the State Forest Department launched a program of public distribution of saplings at the hands of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today (June 4).
The Chief Minister inaugurate the web portal for commercial tree plantation and release a book on ‘Trees of Panaji’ at Campal Garden on at 10.30 am. The MLA of Panaji Atanasio Monserrate, Mayor of CCP Rohit Joe Monserrate and the deputy Mayor Vasant Ashok Agshikar were also present on the occasion.
The Forest department will be carrying on a free sapling distribution programme from June 4 to September 5 wherein more than five lakh plants will be distributed free. The plants will be from different categories including medicinal herbs, fruit bearing trees, ornamental plants and the ones that are utilized for commercial purpose.
