Panaji: Goa government on Monday executed bureaucratic reshuffle, including transfer of Director of Education Vandana Rao, whose conduct had attracted lot of criticism.

Port Minister Michael Lobo and Goa Forward Party were amongst those who had sought the transfer of the lady officer, amidst several controversies surrounding her decisions in the department.

The recent circular about salaries to the staff of aided schools had also evoked strong reaction. Lobo had alleged that Rao was running the Education department as a private limited company.

Responding to the transfer, GFP Vice President Durgadas Kamat said that the party will continue to remain as watchdog of interest of Goans.

Kamat tweeted “GOA FORWARD IMPACT. THE Education Director is finally removed. For us, the interests of #Goa and #Goemkars are non-negotiable, and those who’re unable, disinterested or arrogant to uphold them will be held to account. Once again proud to be the watchdogs for all #Goemkars.”

“On 10th July we had demanded the removal of @vandana_rao as #EducationDirector. Those who can’t uphold the interest of #Goemkars won’t be allowed to continue in their positions. Let the message be loud and clear that we @Goaforwardparty are the watchdogs.”
