Panaji: MGP-turned-BJP MLA Dipak Pawaskar was formally inducted in the cabinet on Wednesday mid-night, within 24 hours of splitting from the parent party.
Goa Governor Mridula Sinha gave oath of secrecy to Pawaskar in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan near here. Pawaskar was inducted in the cabinet after dropping Deputy Chief Minister and MGP MLA Sudin Dhavalikar, who was shunted out earlier during the day.
Pawaskar and State Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar had engineered a split in MGP to break away Legislature party and merge it into BJP during wee hours of Wednesday.
The first time MLA who represents Sanvordem Assembly Constituency in South Goa is given the post of Chairman of State run Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation.
