Ponda: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party President Deepak Dhavalikar has announced that he would be contesting from Priol Assembly Constituency. His statement comes few days after Priol MLA Govind Gaude showed keen interest to contest on BJP ticket from the constituency.
“I will be contesting from Priol Assembly Constituency on MGP ticket,” he said pointing out that his interest has shifted from Shiroda Constituency which he had contested during the byelection.
Dhavalikar has represented Priol Constituency in the past. When asked whether his stand would not be hindrance towards possible alliance talks with BJP, Dhavalikar shot back “where is alliance happening.”
He said that those groups which is ready to share 12 seats for MGP should come forward for alliance talks and all the four constituencies of Ponda should be with Dhavalikar led party.
Dhavalikar said that the party “may prefer to go solo” but entire decision would be taken only when elections are formally announced.
