Panaji: Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte has demanded that Pramod Sawant led government should declare state of medical emergency protocol on priority and an emergency medical support involvement of the Indian Army due to increasing COVID-19 related deaths.

Khaunte released series of tweets to react to the current covid-19 situation.

The Porvorim MLA tweeted “6 COVID-19 caused deaths in just 1 day! Such is the sorry State of healthcare in #Goa & still @goacm insists ‘bhivpachi garaz na’? Coronavirus is spreading at an astonishing rate now in Goa, the hospitals are out of their capacities & yet the CM is reluctant for a total lockdown!”

“It’s not the time to wait for voluntary self control from the people – we need a total lockdown monitored with the help of Army & Police.”

“Goa must declare a State Medical Emergency Protocol on priority & an emergency medical support involvement of the Indian Army must be taken.”

“Meanwhile, the State must expedite our procurement of medical accessories & frontline treatment medication to be able to meet the demand. Testing capacity needs to be increased and private labs & hospitals needs to be involved.”

“It’s painful that in the 1 day Assembly on Monday, the elected representatives of the State will be discussing other issues instead of addressing the pressing concerns related to #COVID19 because our CM refuses to rise above his party lines!”

“We need these emergency control measures must to be put in place within 24 hours because we cannot afford this alarming escalation of infections and deaths!”

“@amitshah, @pmoindia – My sincere request for your intervention for the sake of Goa and Goans”
