Panaji: Even as one labourer died due to a suspected dengue case and seven others were diagnosed with the disease at the state’s biggest fishing jetty at Cutbona in South Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the deaths of workers at jetties are very unfortunate.
Sawant said that he has instructed the State Fisheries Department to maintain hygiene standards at all the jetties.
In a media statement released here on Tuesday, Sawant said that the deaths of workers at jetties are very unfortunate. “ I have issued strict instructions to the Fisheries Department to ensure that hygiene standards at all jetties are significantly improved and strictly maintained,” he said…
The chief minister said that the State Health Department is actively monitoring the situation and providing guidance to the workforce on maintaining proper hygiene, taking preventive measures, and ensuring early diagnosis to prevent further incidents.
“All the stakeholders of the trade must also ensure strict adherence to the instructions of Fisheries and Health Dept,” he said.
Sawant said that he has also directed both District Collectors to closely monitor the situation on the ground, ensuring that all necessary actions are taken to safeguard the health and well-being of the workers.
“The safety of our workers is of utmost priority, and we will continue to work diligently to prevent such tragedies in the future,” he said.
