Curtorim: Former Zilla panchayat member Moreno Rebello, who had recently joined BJP in presence of Chief minister Pramod Sawant, on Thursday quit the party.
Rebello claimed that he was feeling suffocated in the party and also had to fight back the allegations of accepting money to join the saffron outfit. He also said that he was disturbed after recent attacks on Christians across the country.
The Curtorim –based leader was a congress strongman and had left the party, little before local MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, entered Trinamool Congress Party.
While he joined BJP, his wife, who is current Zilla Panchayat member, was still in the Congress party. She had even shared a dais with GPCC chief Girish Chodankar during recently held public meeting to condemn Reginaldo’s entry in the TMC.
Sources stated that Rebello was upset as he did not received good response in the BJP. He was not getting expected response from the officers despite being projected as party’s future candidate in this constituency.
Lourenco’s resignation had also left the candidature from Curtorim vacant though other leaders like Shalom Sardinha had put their claim for the ticket.
Rebello is expected to join Congress party in the days to come and would be a front runner for party’s ticket from this constituency.
