Margao: The cross-voting during the election of South Goa Zilla Panchayat chairperson has began a series of suspicions in the opposition parties.
The BJP candidate received 16 votes, one more than its actual tally of supporting members. This means either a ZP member from Congress, the Goa Forward Party, or AAP had crossed voted.
This trigged a war of words between Congress and AAP.
GPCC chief Amit Patkar wrote: GPCC President Amit Patkar tweeted “today’s South Goa Zilla Parishad Chairman election has exposed @AAPGoa completely. By voting for @BJP4Goa, AAP has proved beyond doubt that it is a part of in Goa. Final tally (25 members): BJP – 16 votes Congress + @Goaforwardparty – 9 votes.Different flags, same politics of deception. Goa will not forgive this betrayal.
AAP Goa Acting President Shrikrishna Parab has offered rebuttal to the claims of Amit Patkar that AAP ZP member cross-voted.
Parab tweeted : AAP has and will always stand against @BJP4Goa. Today too, we voted against them. We don’t need certificates from the @INCGoa South Goa district president who was ready to defect to the BJP for cash in the last election. Guirdolim INC ZP, originally from BJP, voted for BJP today.
