Panaji: Maharashtra’s Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadanavis on Monday said that the COVID-19 situation in his state is “serious.”
“The situation on COVID-19 infection in Maharashtra is serious. Out of total deaths due to coronavirus, 42 per cent are in Maharashtra,” he told reporters outside the official bungalow of Goa chief minister.
Fadanavis who had visited Malvan area in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district paid courtesy visit to Goa CM Pramod Sawant on his way back to the airport in Goa.
The former Maharashtra chief minister said that the number of getting affected with COVID-19 in Maharashtra is increasing every passing day.
“We should increase testing and isolation facilities. We have been insisting for this with the Maharashtra government,” he said.
When asked about antigen testing, Fadanavis said that his opposition is not for the antigen testing, but it should be conducted in a proper ration comparison to PTPCR test.
“The ratio between PTPCR and antigen should be 1:1. If it increases then there is possibility of false negativity,” he said.
He claimed that two labs have shown results that 65 per cent of antigen tests are false.
