Panaji: Goa on Saturday witnessed a major spike in the COVID-19 cases with 280 new cases reported, taking the total count to 6,193.
A total of 227 people were discharged during the day, taking the number of recovered cases to 4,438 and that of active cases to 1,707, he added.
Three people succumbed to the infection during the day including 64 and 77 year old men and 71 year old woman succumbed to the virus.
“A total of 5531 samples were tested on Saturday, of which 280 returned positive and 2291 negative. Result of 2,960 samples are awaited,” the official said.
