Panaji: Goa on Sunday continued witnessing spike in the number of COVID-19 cases with 173 new infections reported during the day, while 180 people were discharged from different covidcare centres after their recovery.
State Health bulletin released on Sunday evening mentions that the number of positive cases in the state touched a mark of 3,657 of which 1,417 were active.
The state also reported one death when 67-year-old man from Chimbel area of North Goa succumbed to the infection at ESI hospital in Margao, which has been specially designated for COVID-19 treatment.
The health department said that out of 5,028 samples tested on Sunday, 1,761 were negative while 3,094 reports are awaited.
