Panaji: The opposition MLAs in Goa Legislative Assembly will move ‘Adjournment Motion’ on Monday during one day long session demanding discussion on the pandemic situation in the State.
Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai said that the united opposition, which includes the members of Congress, MGP and an Independent, will move Adjournment motion before the Speaker seeking to suspend all the business and discuss on the ever worsening pandemic situation in the State.
Sardesai said that the notice would be issued to the Speaker under Rule 69 of the Rules and Procedure and Conduct of Business of Goa Legislative Assembly.
He said that the rule allows the motion for Adjournment to discuss a “definite matter of urgent public importance”.
Sardesai said that the motion is relevant as it is about recent occurrence of increasing number of deaths.
“On Saturday, we had six people dying including a 14-year-old girl. Government’s cannot justify the death claiming it to be having co morbid condition of the patient,” he said.
“There is spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state and governmet will suspend all the business to pass the Budget and Bills, which are currently irrelevant,” Sardesai said.
“The Budget needs rejig as government has declared austerity measures. Revenue and expenditure figures has gone for the toss,” he stated.
Sardesai said that the opposition cannot sit quietly and witness this “murder of democracy and procedure of Goa legislative in a broad day light.”
