Panaji: Goa reported highest ever spike of COVID-19 with 170 people testing positive on Tuesday taking the total tally of confirmed cases to 2,753, while one person succumbed to the infection.
A total of 67 people were discharged on Tueday leaving the tally of 1,128, as per State health bulletin.
The state reported highest spike of COVID-19 in its history with 170 people testing positive out of 5550 samples tested during the day of which 1858 are negative and reports of 3522 are awaited.
The areas surrounding Vasco town in South Goa continued to be hotspot of COVID-19 outbreak.
Several areas in and around Vasco town including Sada, Baina, New Vaddem, Zuarinagar and Kharewado contributed for majority number of cases while the number of positive people from Mangor Hill locality (in vasco) has been reducing. Mangor Hill has been declared as a containment zone.
Tulip Diagnostic, one of the pharma company located at Verna Industries Estate has also turned as COVID-19 hospot with 136 people testing positive for the infection.
