Panaji: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the Goa will follow the discharge policy as per the directions of Union Health Secretary.
In a series of tweets released here, Rane also took on Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte over his claims that more than 500 patients would be discharged on Sunday.
Rane tweeted “With reference to the claim of Hon’ble MLA of Porvorim Shri @RohanKhaunte’s claim stating that 500 people are being discharged today from COVID Hospital, I would like to clarify that total discharges today are 59, from the COVID Hospital and the COVID Care Centres.”
“Further, the Union Health Secretary had issued directions dated 29th June that the same discharge policy should be implemented in letter and spirit by all states. Pleased to inform, Goa’s testing rate is perhaps the highest in the country at over 60000 per million population.”
“It is my humble appeal to Hon’ble MLA to kindly fact check the data before making the same public and create panic. We are all together in this fight and the only way to defeat #Covid19 is to stay united and overcome the crisis by helping each other and being responsible.”
