Court rejects bail applications filed by Luthra brothers

Mapusa: The court on Thursday dismissed the bail petitions filed by Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, both the owners of Birch by Romeo Lane at Arpora night club.
Total 25 people were killed in December last year after the nightclub caught fire.

The Sessions court at Mapusa town in North Goa rejected the bail pleas of Luthra brothers. Advocate Vishnu Joshi, representing the families of victims before the court, told reporters in Mapusa that it is a victory of all the families which is fighting for the justice.
“The court has rejected the bail applications filed by Luthra brothers, refusing to give them any respite,” he said.

Both the brothers, who had fled to Thailand after the incident, are currently in Central Jail at Colvale in North Goa.

Advocate Parag Rao, representing both the brothers, said that the court has rejected the application and detailed order is awaited.
He said that they are examining the future legal recourse which includes the possibility of approaching Goa Bench of Bombay High Court for the bail.
