Margao: The Court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to Fr Bolmax Fidelis Pereira who was booked for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Vasco police had registered a FIR against Fr Pereira on Friday after several hundred right wing activists protested demanding his arrest over his statement on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Fearing arrest, the priest had moved for anticipatory bail. The court heard arguments in this case on Monday and Tuesday. The court on Monday had refused to grant interim bail to the priest.
On Tuesday, Additional Sessions Judge Kshama Joshi on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to Fr Pereira.
