Canacona: A couple who had come to Goa to celebrate their Valentine’s Day died due to drowning at Palolem beach in South Goa , police said.
Canacona police said that Vibhu Sharma (27) working with a private firm in Mumbai and Supriya Dubey (26) employed in Bengaluru died due to drowning at Polelem beach on Valentine’s eve.
Police said that the couple had ventured into waters after having dinner on Monday night for a swim. Their bodies were found on two different spots on Palolem beach stretch on Tuesday, police said, ruling out an foul play in the incident.
A senior police official from Canacona police station said that the body of Supriya was found at Ourem beach stretch, near Palolem at 7 am on Tuesday while that of her partner was found in the afternoon short distance from that place.
Police said that the statement of the hotel staff, where they had checked-in , has been recorded who has given a testimony that the couple had dinner and drinks before venturing in the Sea.
