Panaji : Congress Goa Chief Amit Patkar has expressed confidence that people of the nation will show the doors to BJP in Lok Sabha election 2024 as they have got exposed to their acts of dividing people over religion and other issues.
Patkar was speaking to reporters after an overwhelming response to the Goa edition of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, which commenced from Ribandar circle and culminated at Azad Maidan-Panaji.
South Goa Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, MLA Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira, MLA Altone D’Costa, Girish Chodankar, Amarnath Panajikar, Mahila Chief Beena Naik,Richi Bhargawa, Joel Andrade,Vivek Dsilva, Kenisha Menezes,Wilma Fernandes,Ahraj Mulla, Nitin Patkar, Reinaldo Rosario, Mahesh Nadar, Vijay Bhike,Pradip Naik, Janardhan Bhandari, Virendra Shirodkar,Savio Dsilva and other leaders of Congress were present.
“Bhrasht Jumla Party is trying to divide the nation on the issue of religion and others. We need to stop this and unite. Our leader Rahul Gandhi raised these issues during his Yatra and tried to unite people,” Patkar said.
Girish Chodankar said that Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was with the intention to unite the nation as ruling BJP is dividing people over religions and caste.
“There is frustration among youths as the unemployment rate is high in the state. Hence many joined us and I am confident that this force will further expose the deeds of the BJP,” he said.
Sardinha said that many youths participated in this yatra. “Rahul Gandhi wants to unite the nation as ruling BJP is dividing the people. We want to expose this government and tell people how it has destroyed our nation. Unemployment is increasing and there is no control on inflation. We need to show the doors to the BJP,” he said.
Richi Bhargava, National Secretary, Indian Youth Congress and State In-Charge of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress, said that from today, Goans are opening shops of Love in the marketplace of hatred set up by BJP in the state.
“People realise the real issues related to their lives will be sorted only through Unity and not through hatred or division. The Indian National Congress will win both seats in Goa for the General Elections in 2024 through eradicating hatred in every form,” she said.
Beena Naik said that people were inspired by the spark of revolution of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and Dr Juliao Menezes who played a vital role in the liberation of the state.
“Today Youth Congress and our leaders have come together to instill the spark in the minds of people. It is a new spark against hatred,” she said.
Amarnath Panjikar said that today is the historic day as people protected Goa. “I urge people to unite to protect and remain united. We need to protect our peace and Goa,” he said.
Joel Andrade said that the idea is to unite India and strengthen the unity. “We are facing social, political and economical issues. Inflation is at an all time high and our land has been destroyed on a large scale. Law and Order is collapsing in Goa,” he said.
