Panaji: Congress party in Goa on Tuesday said that they would be filing disqualification petition against all the eight MLAs who had left the party to join BJP recently.

A group of eight Congress MLAs had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in September this year. The strength of Congress party has been reduced to mere three in Goa Legislative Assembly after the political development.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar told PTI that the party has received the required documents from the office of Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly to file the disqualification petition.

“The party will soon file the disqualification petition before the Speaker against all the eight MLAs,” he said.

Patkar said that former State Advocate General and current Congress MLA Carlose Alvares Ferreira would be drafting the disqualification petition against his former party colleagues.

  1. Congress is getting ready for the hat-trick. They successfully formed the Congress Janata Party Government two times in a straight election (2017 & 2022). Now Congress don’t want to miss the straight third time chance to form the Congress Janata Party in 2027. So Congress is getting ready from the grassroots to form the Congress Janata Party for the Third Time.
