Panaji: The Congress party in Goa is working to decentralise power ahead of the crucial 2027 polls.

The recent meeting of Goa leaders in New Delhi with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K. C. Venugopal has hinted that the party will opt for four district presidents.

The party currently has two district presidents, one in North Goa and another in South Goa.

Sources stated that with the addition of a third district, the number of district presidents will also be increased. However, instead of three, the party is likely to go for four district presidents.

“Three districts exist in Goa as per the revenue department. But politically, there could be four districts,” a senior Congress party official told GNH.

The party has already started preparations for the appointment of district presidents in the state with the formation of a three-member committee to observe the process.
