Panaji: In an apparent dig at state government for failing to restore the water supply to the capital city for last seven days, Congress party in Goa on Wednesday taunted that they are ready to offer mineral water bottles to Union Home minister Amit Shah during his visit to the state on Thursday where he is arriving to participate in West Zone council meeting.
Shah would be chairing meeting of West Zone Council in a starred hotel at Panaji on Thursday which would be attended by chief ministers of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa and administrators of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
“On behalf of thirsty people of Tiswadi and Ponda Taluka including Capital city who are dying to see their taps run for last 7 days, @INCGoa won’t mind providing mineral Water bottles to @AmitShah during his visit tomo as I am sure the taps in his hotel room will also be dry,” Congress’ Goa chief Girish Chodankar tweeted.
The water supply to two talukas – Tiswadi and Ponda – which also covers capital city of Panaji has been cut since August 15 after a water pipeline busted near Ponda town.
State government has said that the water supply is likely to resume by Wednesday evening.
