Congress says Foreigners are key players in drug trade; demands crackdown

Panaji: In a letter to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Congress party has demanded crack down on the foreign drug mafias claiming to be the key players of narcotic trade in the State.

Congress North Goa President Vijay Bhike has written to Chief Minister expressing concern over youths getting attracted to drugs.

Bhike has pointed out police failure to burst the gang’s of foreign drug mafias and peddlers, operating in the coastal areas.

“The Congress party hereby request Chief Minister’s intervention to take immediate steps to carry out special drive throughout the State to eradicate drug related activities and getting hold over the key players like the foreigners,” Bhike said in his letter, which is also attached to Director General of Police.

He has demanded that Government should set up Anti Narcotic Branch (ANC) in each district with sufficient and well equipped staff to act against the illicit trade.
