Panaji: Congress and MGP skipped the crucial meeting called by the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) IAS Kunal on Thursday, as a part of its series of consultations for poll preparedness in the State.

State is gearing up for by-elections in Mandrem, Shiroda, Mapusa and general elections for Lok Sabha.

The meeting called by CEO was attended by Pundalik Raut Dessai of BJP and Durgadas Kamat of Goa Forward Party (GFP).

During the meeting, directions were issued to the political parties to appoint Booth Level Agent (BLA) in all 40 assembly constituencies as soon as possible.

Speaking to reporters post meeting, GFP vice President Durgadas Kamat said that CEO has directed us to appoint BLA in all 40 constituencies and to submit the list with their names and mobile numbers.

“It is a very good initiative,” he said.

Kamat confirmed that no one from Congress and MGP attended the meeting.
