Panaji: Sankalp Amonkar, one of the eight Congress MLAs who switched over to the BJP on Friday accused his former party bosses of selling tickets during 2022 Goa Legislative Assembly election.
Addressing a press conference, Amonkar accused AICC Goa Desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao of selling tickets, in at least, 12 Assembly constituencies.
Amonkar said that crores of rupees exchanged hands and Rao sold these tickets to wealthy individuals, sidelining the genuine workers of the party.
The MLA said that he has been exposing all the misdeeds because “Rao has accused him and others of changing the sides to BJP by accepting Rs 40-50crores.”
Amonkar also alleged that the post of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Chief and Congress Legislature Party chief was sold to an amount.
“Those people who were new in the party were offered these posts by accepting money from them,” he said adding that “the deal was struck in his presence.”
Amonkar also said that the AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal was also in the know about the financial dealings.
Amonkar said that the Congress party employed an agency from Bangalore for media management paying Rs 200 crore while another company from the same place was paid Rs 50 lakh in each constituency for the survey that never happened.
Amonkar questioned why the agencies from Bangalore were selected for the work when there were local companies, which had quoted lesser price for the same work.
The Mormugao MLA, who is also former chief of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee, speaking further held Rahul Gandhi responsible for finishing the Congress party.
He said that Gandhi is going ahead with bharat jodo yatra without taking the responsibility as AICC President. “They want the next AICC president as rubber stamp. They want someone to take responsibility and accountability of Congress failures,” he said.
“They did the same thing when Manomohan singh was made PM.. The entire government was run by Gandhi parivar,” he added.
Amonkar said that Congress party has been finished in the country because of Rahul Gandhi.
“He is surrounded with the team of fools. They have formed a coterie. Gandhi has not spoken to anyone on the street. They will never be able to revive congress party,” he commented.
Amonkar said that the Congress party now is a dead party. “Only Rahul Gandhi is responsible for this,” he added.
GPCC Chief Amit Patkar was not available for comments. A senior Congress in Goa said that the statement by Amonkar should not be taken seriously as he is now part of the BJP.
