Panaji: Congress leaders on Friday met Goa State Pollution Control Board Chairman Mahesh Patil against the unloading of coal at Mooring Dolphin area of Mormugao Port Trust.
The leaders including Deputy Congress Legislative Party leader Sankalp Amonkar, Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa, St Cruz MLA Rudolf Fernandes and Saligao MLA Kedar Naik visited GSPCB on Friday.
They complained that the second ship of Vedanta has docked to unload coal at Mooring Dolphin area of MPT.
Amonkar said that GSPCB Chairman Mahesh Patil has assured to stop work of coal unloading and holding joint inspection after he convinced him that Sesa Vedanta who had been issued permissions for one lakh metric ton have already crossed around 1.5 lakh tonnes with just two ships arriving at MPT.
