Panaji: Goa Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat has strongly criticised the Government for prematurely declaring Goa as 100 percent Open Defaction Free.
State government on Saturday had announced that hundred percent of the panchayat areas in the state have been ODF.
Giving his reaction, Kamat tweeted ” Goa declared 100 percent ODF: This is expected from the Government which has mastered the art of manipulating facts & figures to create fake feeling of Acche Din”.
“This announcement will now turn all those people who are compelled to use open spaces to answer their natural calls as criminals, purely because Government has miserably failed to provide them with adequate toilets,” he said.
Kamat said the information provided to the Goa legislative assembly showed huge number of houses without toilet facilities and it is suprising that Government has just ignored facts and figures to create a false picture. This will severly affect the image of the State.
“I urge the Government to understand the ground reality by reading various media reports in todays local newspapers,” the leader of opposition added.
“I personally feel that efforts should be made by all to make the entire country ODF, but this needs to be done with proper thought process and finding solutions to issues faced by the public,” he said.
