Panaji: The complaint of fraud, deception, and cheating has been filed against the promoters of Sunburn Festival and Directors of Book My Show by AAP Goa President Amit Palekar.

Palekar has filed complaint against promoters of Sunburn Event or Sunburn Music Festival operating through the directors of Intellectual property Rights holding company percept Limited and Book My Show operating through holding company Venues Management Private Limited and Bigtree Entertainment Private Limited.

The complaint mentions that Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte are on record that the promoters have not even applied for any permission to host Sunburn, while they have already started selling tickets online.

He has pointed out through the complaint that “in fact, the tourism minister has been on record to state that if they are selling the tickets for the event it is for the persons who have purchased the ticket to lodge a complaint in that regard.”

Palekar said that the people of Goa have lodged their protest against holding this event in Goa and are opposed to the some of various reasons and the said event is not welcome in Goa.

“Yet to my surprise, tickets for this event are being sold despite the fact that the event has not yet received official clearance from the relevant government authorities,” he said.

Palekar ha said that unauthorised and illegal sale of tickets is to only misleading to the public but also raises concerns about the legality and safety of the event.

“If the event does not receive permission which ought not to be granted, it will lead to significant financial losses for the ticket buyers as well as potential low and order issues,” he said.

The AAP leader said that he has personally purchased a ticket for one day on December 28, 2024. “I have been fraudulently and dishonestly deceit ed and induced by promoters of Sunburn Event and Book My Show and they made me pay the said amount to them which has been credited to their account,” he said.

Palekar said that the amount may seem minuscule with just one person but there are thousands of people like him who have paid such amount to them.

“The act of fraud and cheating has wide public ramification as it also involves playing a fraud on government of Goa, which has not granted any permission for such event,” he said.

When contacted, a senior police official from Panaji police station said that they are examining the complaint.
