Panaji: Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday welcomed the decision of the central government to slash excise duty on petrol from Rs 13 to Rs three per litre and also on diesel from Rs ten to nil.
In a message posted on X handle, Sawant wrote “I wholeheartedly welcome the Union Government’s decision, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji, to slash excise duty on petrol from Rs 13 to Rs 3 per litre and reduce diesel duty from Rs 10 to nil.”
The Chief minister wrote further “This is a clear reflection of the Government’s commitment to protecting citizens and shielding the common man from the impact of rising global crude oil prices due to the conflict in West Asia.”
“This timely intervention will ensure fuel stability, support Oil Marketing Companies, and provide major relief to the people of the country,” he added.
