Panaji: In a major development, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today decided to head the Imagine Panaji Smart city Development Limited (IPSCDL), under which the Smart city mission is been implemented in the capital city.
He has also decided to inspect all the completed and ongoing works under the mission.
The move comes after Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserratte and City Mayor Uday Madkaikar charged IPSCDL of corruption and lack of works under the mission. The MLA had urged CM to head the mission.
Sawant today chaired review meeting on Smart city project, wherein decision was taken to reconstitute the committee under CM. The meeting was attended by Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, chief secretary Parimal Rai, IPSCDL officials, Monserratte and Madkaikar.
“I will have to write to Union minister for Urban Development to understand whether CM can head the Smart City project. Currently, the mission is headed by Chief Secretary,” Sawant told media persons post meeting.
CM admitted that there was lack of communication between government, local MLA and IPSCDL officials.
Sawant said that as per IPSCDL information, total ten projects are completed and four are ongoing. ” I will inspect them all. We have to also inaugurate few projects,” he said.
Earlier speaking, Monserratte said that he is happy with CM decision. ” CM has also issued directions to IPSCDL that whatever works have to be undertaken henceforth under Smart city, CCP has to be taken into confidence,” he said.
