Panaji : Progressive Front of Goa (PFG) has exposed a massive Hill cutting on Old Goa by-pass with apparent violation of all the norms.
The PFG leaders on Tuesday visited the site only to find that the persons working on the site running away. The flying squad of Town and Country Planning Department (TCP) was also summoned by PFG to complaint about the violation.
PFG leader Ravi Harmalkar claimed that the vehicles of Dilip Buildcon were seen passing by the stretch where entire hill has been mercilessly cut.
PFG leader Mahesh Mahambrey expressed surprise as to how this illegality has been ignored by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who has been crossing the road almost every day, way back from his home at Sankhali.
“CM has been compromising with the environment of the state. We have lost Mahadayi and now under the pretext of development, we are losing these Hills,” he said pointing out that the illegalities are happening right next to the protected site of Old Goa Heritage Monuments.
