Panaji: AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that the least Chief Minister Pramod Sawant could do is apologise to the people of Goa for the Arpora nightclub incident.
Addressing a public meeting in South Goa, the AAP leader termed the Sawant-led government as “the most corrupt.”
“Tell me one activity which can be done in Goa without paying. I want to ask Pramod Sawant, tell me one activity which happens without bribing the officers,” Kejriwal said.
He said this is perhaps the most corrupt government, and the least the Chief Minister could do is apologise to the people of Goa for the Arpora incident and ensure safety in all establishments.
A total of 25 people died in the fire at the nightclub in Arpora on Saturday.
Kejriwal said that Goa was earlier famous for its scenic beauty. “Now Goa is famous for its corruption and the Arpora incident,” he commented.
The AAP National Convenor alleged that during the last 13 years, the BJP-led government has sucked the life out of the people.
He said that the nightclub in Arpora was operating without an occupancy certificate, trade licence, building permissions, and other licences.
“Without building permissions they got electricity and water connections. One year ago, the local panchayat had ordered demolition of the structure, but still the club was operating because they used to pay hafta to the BJP government,” he said.
The former Delhi Chief Minister said that no one can believe that the Pramod Sawant government was unaware of this nightclub. “This club was allowed to operate as it was paying hafta to the officers, ministers, and the MLAs,” he alleged.
He said everything is possible in Goa with this corrupt government. “The owners of the Arpora club ran away from the country. They were made to flee.”
Referring to developments in Punjab, he said the AAP government in Punjab is constructing 43,000 km of roads. “I am an engineer. I can do the work. I can’t do the dirty politics like these people,” he said.
