Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday appealed to industries and locals to keep the coastal state clean to ensure that its beauty and serenity are maintained.
Addressing the state-level Goa Liberation Day parade near Panaji, Sawant said that retaining the cleanliness of the state is essential for the growth of the tourism sector.
The Chief Minister inspected the parade and took the guard of honour during the function after unfurling the tricolour in the presence of cabinet ministers and others.
Sawant said that the state government has commissioned plants for waste management and to treat e-waste and hazardous waste.
“I appeal to all industries not to dispose of their waste on the roadside in an unscientific manner. There are facilities to treat waste of every kind. They should use these facilities so that we keep Goa clean,” he said.
The Chief Minister also said that citizens should shoulder the responsibility of keeping the state clean so that the beauty and serenity of the state are retained.
Speaking further, he appealed to the citizens of the state to work towards achieving the goal of Vikasit Bharat and Vikasit Goa.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre for contributing significantly to the development of the state.
